DAVIDSON – Davidson College President Carol Quillen announced at the Saturday, May 20, commencement ceremony that Edward “Ted” Baker, class of 1957, pledged $25 million to support the Davidson Trust.

The trust allows the college to uphold its commitment to meet 100 percent of admitted students’ demonstrated needs with grants and student employment.

The donation will fund the Baker-Vagt Scholarship, providing help to students who would not otherwise be able to afford to attend the college. Baker’s gift is the second largest in college history.
