Lara Baum

KANNAPOLIS – Lara Marie Baum, formerly of Mooresville, died May 6, 2012.

Born in Sarasota, Fla., she moved to North Carolina and graduated from Catawba College in 1998.

Survivors include her mother, JoAnn Taggart, of Cornelius; father, Robert Taggart, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sister, Lisa Hilliker, of Concord and children, Cameron and Sophie, both of Mooresville.

Services were held Sunday, May 20, at Jetton Park in Cornelius.

King’s Funeral Home, Charlotte, served the family.

Thelma Reid

HUNTERSVILLE – Thelma Louise Reid, 80, died May 14, 2012.

She graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1950 and retired from Magla Products after 31 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Reid; parents, Marvin and Lola Weathers; two brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jack Reid; children, Jack E. Reid and wife, Dora, Jerry Reid and wife, Teresa, Penny Reid Hawkes and husband, Ken, and David Reid; four brothers; two sisters; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held May 17 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery.

Edna Kersey

HUNTERSVILLE – Edna Earl Gilley Kersey, 86, died May 13, 2012, at her home.

Born May 12, 1926, in Bremen, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Carrie and John Gilley.

She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Tybee, Hoyt, Jimmy, J.T. and Keet; and her husband, Laverne E. Kersey.

Survivors include her sister, Atta Clovis McCord, of Georgia; children, Cindy Barrett and her fiancé, Alan Juda, Daria Bodenheimer and husband, Steve, and Ron Kersey and wife, Margie; grandchildren, Savannah Barrett, Kevin Kersey, Kim Wasley and Kristina Barrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held May 17 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Bill Cain officiating. Interment was held at Fairview Cemetery, Stockbridge, Ga.

Betty Whitlow

HUNTERSVILLE – Betty Jean Borders Whitlow, 81 died May 14, 2012, at Carolina’s Medical Center-Main.

Born Oct. 8, 1930, in Mecklenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Dewey H. Borders and Laura Jane Borders.

She worked as a salesclerk at K-Mart and was a member of Independence Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, John R. Whitlow, of Charlotte; sons, John “Jay” Whitlow and Ronnie Knight, both of Charlotte; daughters, Jean Hunter and husband Stan, of Covington, Ga., Marsha Puckett and husband, Mike, and Suzi Knight, all of Charlotte; sister, Catherine Howard; brother, Jerry Borders; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held May 17 at Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Todd Marlin officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Amerigo “Rick” Argentieri

DAVIDSON – Amerigo “Rick” Argentieri, 65, of Davidson, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast.

Born Dec. 4, 1946, in North Tonawanda, N.Y., he was a son of the late Almirdo and Columeia Guido Argentieri.

Survivors include his wife, Terri Trivette Argentieri; children, Amy Willingham, Tina Ledford, Lisa Long; brother, Mack Argentieri; and six grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, May 23, in the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel.

Marjorie Adams

MOORESVILLE – Marjorie Wheeler Adams, 89, of Mooresville, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville.

Born Jan. 5, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Rhea Squire Wheeler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Horton Adams.

Survivors include her children, Lanny Ingold and wife, Anita, of Cornelius; Lynn Corriher, of Mooresville; Raymond Ingold, of Statesville; brothers, Merl Wheeler, Carl Wheeler both of Michigan; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, at Eastside Baptist Church.
