DAVIDSON – Three Davidson Day School students reeled in wins in a national art contest that asked students to create depictions of their state’s fish.

Abbey Adams of Huntersville won first place, McCarthy Strachan of Mooresville took second and Janae Brown of Charlotte placed third, all in the fourth through sixth-grade category, with their depictions of North Carolina’s channel bass. Wildlife Forever, the national conservation charity that sponsored the contest, will display all first-place artwork at its annual State Fish Art Expo this summer in Arkansas and give out awards for the top 12 pieces chosen for the expo. All winning entries may be found online at www.statefishart.org.
