Doris Davis

HUNTERSVILLE – Doris Jane Puckett Davis, 80, of Huntersville, died April 29, 2012, at Levine Dickson Hospice House.

Born May 3, 1931, in Mecklenburg County, she was a daughter of the late William Stewart and Virginia Reames Puckett.

She worked for Dixie News Company for 50 years and was an All-American baseball recruit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Davis; brother, William Franklin Puckett; and sister, Ruby Puckett Webb.

Survivors include her brothers, Thomas Clifton Puckett, of Charlotte, Edwin Reames Puckett and wife, Lois, of Charlotte; and sister, Frances Puckett Faust, of Greenville.

Services were held May 1 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Allan Purtill officiating. A burial followed in the church cemetery.

Karen Moore

HUNTERSVILLE – Karen Frances Kirch Moore, 43, of Huntersville, died May 3, 2012, at the Levine Dickson Hospice House.

Born May 16, 1968, in West Islip, N.Y., she was a daughter of Matthew and Florence Kirch. She was a teacher at Mountain Island Elementary School.

In addition to her parents, survivors include her son, Eldridge Moore, IV; daughter, Jordan Moore; brother, James Kirch and wife, Denise, of Huntersville and their children, Andrew and Erin; fiancé Harold Bolder; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A mass was held at St. Mark Catholic Church on Monday, May 7.

John Avallone

HUNTERSVILLE – John Allan Avallone, 74, of Huntersville, died April 30, 2012, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville.

Born Sept. 4, 1937, in Provincetown, Mass., he was a son of Elizabeth and Daniel Williams. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and later became a foreman in the plumbing industry.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Pereira Avallone; sons, Brett Avallone and wife, Carol, of Louisville, Ky., John Avallone and wife, Debra, of Louisville, Ky., Glen Avallone and wife, Leslie, of Mooresville; and daughters, Cindy Diaz and husband, Juanito, of Kentucky and Heidi Rupani of Massachusetts.

Services were held Monday, May 7, at the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.

Henry White

DAVIDSON – Henry Edmunds White, 86, of Davidson, died May 1, 2012.

Born July 29, 1925, he was a son of the late Emma and Locke White.

He was the captain on the Davidson College basketball team and later became Assistant Dean of Students.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Carol; children, Henry Edmunds Jr., Susan and Locke; and grandchildren Hope, Katherine and Jordan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Locke Jr. and Richard, and his sister, Louise Walker.

Services were held Saturday, May 5, at Davidson College Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Lib McGregor-Simmons officiating.

Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the H. Edmunds White Scholarship Fund at Davidson College or The Pines at Davidson Resident Care Fund at 400 Avinger Lane, Davidson, NC 28036.

Ronald C. Tucker

HUNTERSVILLE – Ronald Calvin Tucker, 60, of Huntersville, died May 3, 2012, at his home.

Born June 21, 1951, in Forsythe County, he was a son of the late Rev. Roger Tucker and Virginia Tucker Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Winnie Tucker; sister, Jenny McClary and husband, Earl, of Mooresville; niece Diane, nephew Kevin; sister-in-law, Kathy Davis, nephew Everett and niece Mary Katherine, all of Winston-Salem.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12, at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wade Ogle officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
