CORNELIUS – The North Mecklenburg Rotary Club recently awarded Cornelius Elementary School fifth-grader Madeleine Franco with first prize in its annual essay contest.

Madeleine and her fellow contestants wrote an essay about “What Community Means to Me.” Second- and third-place prizes went to Cornelius fifth-graders Clover Kottyan and Morgan Little respectively.
