DAVIDSON – St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Davidson College Presbyterian Church and Davidson United Methodist Church will recognize the National Day of Prayer on May 3.

The Rev. Alan Buckner will lead a worship service at noon in the Davidson United Methodist Church chapel, 304 S. Main St. Buckner, a retired U.S. Army colonel, orchestrated religious support for 9-11 Pentagon victims and funeral honors for President Ronald Reagan.

Davidson College basketball coach Bob McKillop and Mayor John Woods will speak about what prayer means in their lives. The chapel will remain open until 6 p.m. for silent prayer and reflection.
