Pre-School Recreation

Camp themes change each week, but every day is filled with art, games, singing, dancing, stories and play. Campers should dress for mess and pack a lunch. $100 per week for residents, $105 for nonresidents. From 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 to 5 p.m. Community School of Davidson.

Corrine Lewis of Simply Nutritious will teach campers where food comes from, how to make simple and delicious meals and basic gardening. Ages 10 and older.

Brickdiculous LEGO Build! With Live2Build

Campers will build LEGO projects from a nearly unlimited brick inventory, and take home a LEGO version of themselves.

LEGO Machines with Live2Build

Campers will use gears, treads, motors and LEGOs to make working LEGO machines like Ferris Wheels and drawbridges.

Campers will design creations, learn about architecture and engineering and create LEGO  mosaics.

Pre-Piano Presto

Piano beginners will learn rhythm reading, locations of notes on they keyboard and develop five-finger dexterity. By the end, campers will be able to play familiar songs by the end of the week.

Bee-Bot and the Computer with Computer Explorers

Bee-Bot the robot will teach young programmers to write their own programs and relate virtual computer activity to concrete three-dimensions.

Robotic Olympics with Roamer! With Computer Explorers

Roamer the robot will help campers learn how robotics and programming go together, write programs and control his movements. Camp culminates in Roamer Olympics.

Video Game Animation with Computer Explorers

Campers create characters that dance, sing and interact in the world of video game animation. Campers will add sound effects and music using Scratch programming language for kids. Campers should bring their computer if available.

Treasure Hunting with GPS! With Computer Explorers

Campers will search for treasure with hand-held Global Positioning Systems, go geodashing and play geogolf.

Princesses and Indians

Princesses and Indians will move into a land where Spanish is the only spoken language. They will learn Spanish in five days in order to survive. If campers succeed in learning Spanish, they will celebrate with a royal dress-up tea party.

Hoop-A-Loopa-Hula Hoop Camp with Wendy

Campers will learn hoop tricks, compete with contests and games, and learn to make their own hoops. Hoopers will show off their skills at the end of the week.

Treasure Island

Campers will search for treasures, create pirate costumes, sing and play games.

Cooking for Tweens and Teens with Personal Chef Vera Samuels

Campers will learn basic cooking skills that inspire self-sufficiency and self-confidence, acquiring the ability to duplicate recipes at home. Bring daily beverages.

Photo Fun with Gayle Shomer

Campers will learn how to use digital or film cameras and details like exposure, lighting, composition and color both inside and on walking trips. Campers must bring their own camera, manual and comfortable shoes. They will create a journal of memories and progress.

Yoga and More for Teens and Tweens with Mary Kennedy

Campers will do a daily asana yoga practice to help develop healthy patterns in posture and attitude for their changing bodies. They will also practice breath awareness techniques and do art and journal writing. Campers should bring a composition book and yoga mat if available.

June 25-28 for ages 12-14, July 9-12 for ages 9-11, 1 to 4 p.m.

Juggling and Circus Skills with Steve Langley, the Great Fettucini

Campers will learn the basics of juggling with scarves and beanbags, balancing skills, stilt walking, the Chinese Yo-Yo and more.

American Girl Fashion Fun! With Selina Sprinkle

American Girl Dolls will take campers back through time as they explore period crafts like a keepsake jewelry box, tote bag and sundress. Campers will learn how to use patterns and do basic stitching, taking a pattern home to use again and again. They should bring their 18” doll along for the fun, concluding in a tea party and fashion show.

Mini Masters of Art

Young artists will learn the stories behind famous paintings and recreate masterpieces.

Science Fun with Pat Shaw

Campers will experiment with slime making, color tablet mixing, fizz rockets, volcanoes and more. Along with hands-one experiment, the class will include note-keeping, games, take-home materials, observation circle time, vocabulary, a walking field trip and a snack.

CSI with Pat Shaw

Campers will survey a crime scene then spend the week investigating different aspects of the crime, from interviewing witnesses to analyzing blood spatter patterns. The perpetrator will be revealed at the end.

Fashion Drawing and Design

Former New York fashion designer Gerry McElroy will teach campers how to sketch fashion designs, create their own labels and more.

Mountain Masterpieces!

Campers will learn about the heritage, people and arts of the Appalachia. They will make coal trains, learn about mining, create folk art dolls and build musical instruments.
