CHARLOTTE – Nearly 19,000 Charlotte-Mecklenburg School students were assigned to magnet programs during the first student assignment lottery and should receive notification by Friday, March 9.
The 19,000 students include new students and students previously enrolled in magnet schools. School officials placed 270 students in Blythe Elementary School’s IB program with 205 waitlisted students; 322 students in J.M. Alexander Middle School’s IB program with 116 students on the waiting list; and 534 students in North Mecklenburg High’s IB program with three students on the waiting list.
Students may participate in a second magnet lottery for schools that still have open spaces. The lottery will run from Wednesday, March 14, to June 4. Instructions for the lottery should arrive in the mail by mid-March.
