CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte National College Fair is back with new technology designed to give students a more personal college counseling experience.
The fair, sponsored by National Association for College Admission Counseling, brings more than 200 colleges and universities to the Charlotte area Sunday, March 11, from noon to 4 p.m. at The Park, 800 Briar Creek Road. When students pre-register, they fill out a short survey about graduation information and majors they are interested in pursuing. The students will print off a barcode, which will be scanned at each of the fair’s information booths, allowing more time for one-on-one conversations with counselors.
“With this new technology, students will have the opportunity to have more time for one-on-one and not have to waste time filling out countless cards by hand,” said Latisha Dixon, a counselor at Phillip O. Berry School of Technology.
Prior to the fair, the Southern Association of College Admission Counseling will offer a free workshop, “The ABC’s of College Planning,” on Saturday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UNC Charlotte’s Fretwell Building, 9201 University City Blvd., Room 100. Participants may register at the door.
