Duke University researchers with the Murdock Study at the Research Campus in Kannapolis are looking to enroll 50,000 participants in a research project to learn more about serious diseases.

Researchers are looking for people with diseases and people that are entirely healthy so they can compare and contrast, and look at environmental factors as well. Enrolling in the study consists of a one-time, 30-45 minute visit to one of their numerous locations around Cabarrus County and north Mecklenburg, where they will ask participants to donate three tablespoons of blood, a urine sample and some health information.

Participants are compensated for enrolling and they will receive quarterly newsletters to inform everyone of the research they’re working on. If you live in the following zip codes, you are eligible to enroll in the Murdock Study: 28025, 28026, 28027, 28036, 28071, 28075, 28078, 28082, 28082, 28083, 28097, 28107, 28124, 28138, 28213, 28215, 28262, 28269. The zip code requirement is waived for those 100 years old or older, suffering from multiple sclerosis or severe acne, or first responders or male healthcare workers.
