HUNTERSVILLE – Latta Plantation in Huntersville celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by teaching crowds about Irish history.
Dubbed Irish Heritage Day, the event featured demonstrations of Irish cooking, cloth weaving and music. History re-enactors also explained the history of the Irish and Scots-Irish settlers that came to Mecklenburg County in the 18th and 19th centuries. Several Civil War re-enactors were also on hand representing Irish-American soldiers that had enlisted in the Confederate Army.
