CORNELIUS – Police will hold an Operation Medicine Drop and document shredding event March 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of town hall, 21445 Catawba Ave.

Operation Medicine Drop is a free event that allows residents to turn in unused prescription or over-the-counter medicines to keep them out of the wrong hands. Police ask residents to not flush old medicines down the toilet as it could be harmful to the environment.

Residents can also bring old checks, insurance forms or any documents that may contain personal or sensitive information to be destroyed. The event is free and open to the public.
