Teen collects 200 pairs of shoes for charity

Huntersville native Morgana Shorter, with the help of classmates and teammates, collected more than 200 pairs of children and teens’ athletic sneakers for the Access 2 Success Foundation in Davidson. The Access 2 Success Foundation was created by former Davidson College basketball athlete Andrew Lovedale – a native of Nigeria who created the foundation to assist the schools in his hometown of Benin, Nigeria. To help the cause, Morgana came up with “Shoes 4 Hats,” during which teens could donate their slightly-used tennis shoes to wear a favorite hat during classes all day Friday, Feb. 3. In just three days, Morgana collected 200 pairs of shoes at Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology in Charlotte.
