HUNTERSVILLE – Andrew VanWingerden, an eighth-grader at SouthLake Christian, placed second in the technology division of the District 5 Student Academy of Sciences Competition at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on Saturday, Feb. 4.

His project analyzed how the frequency of a microcontroller can be affected by temperature. VanWingerden will advance to the N.C. Science and Engineering Fair in Raleigh later this spring.
