HUNTERSVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will shift traffic along N.C. 73 from Rich Hatchet Road to east of N.C. 115 beginning Wednesday, Feb. 22, as road crews will pour concrete for medians, sidewalks and put down the final road surface.

The detour will be in place until March 7 when the quadrant left intersection will be complete at N.C. 73 and U.S. 21. For more information on the intersection see page 10.

Road crews have been widening N.C. 73 from two to four lanes since 2009. The $17 million design build project was created because of funds released by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Blythe Construction expects to complete the widening in April, the department of transportation said.
