HUNTERSVILLE – U.S. Navy veteran and longtime NASCAR fan, Richard Kraus, of Huntersville, was the lucky winner of a seat at the “High Speed Hold ‘Em on the Halifax” celebrity poker tournament Feb. 22, at the new club house of MG on the Halifax, a luxury waterfront community near Daytona International Speedway.

The event was hosted by NASCAR Foundation chairwoman Betty Jane France and NASCAR Foundation board member Rusty Wallace. Kraus was picked in a random drawing after thousands of fans from across the United States and Canada visited EventsatMGontheHalifax.com.

The poker tournament pits drivers, celebrities and poker pros against each other in a Pro-Am Texas Hold ‘Em style poker tournament with proceeds benefiting The NASCAR Foundation and Speediatrics, the NASCAR-themed pediatrics unit at Halifax Health that cares for more than 2,000 children each year.
