DAVIDSON – Three Davidson Elementary School students recently won National Artistic Achievement Awards for artwork they created for ArtStamps, a program that offers students the opportunity to raise money for their school by turning their art into postage stamps.
Fifth-grader Ryan Cowie won a first-place award, which came with a $250 cash prize. His winning piece also will be showcased on ArtStamp’s’ website, www.artstamps.com, and featured on the main page of the website’s art gallery.
Fourth-grader Mitch Porter and first-grader Carly Coupal each earned runner-up awards for their creations. Each received $50 and frames and will also have their work displayed on ArtStamps’ website.
The students’ artwork was selected from thousands of submissions based on artistic ability and creativity. Their artwork can be purchased as actual postage stamps through the ArtStamps website.
