CORNELIUS – Valentine’s Day at Grace Covenant Academy means love for everyone. With that in mind, students banded together to make bagged meals for Charlotte’s homeless population.
As part of their Biblical studies, teacher Lia Bush told students about some of the ministries she has been involved with, particularly meeting with and praying for the homeless. This piqued the students’ interest and they came up with their own idea for a project.
During the week of Feb. 13, with the support of several parents, the students made sandwiches and packed bags with chips, fruit and a drink. They also attached a verse of scripture and handwrote personal, encouraging notes. The project was held in lieu of a Valentine’s Day party.
“As a group, they are all beginning to walk out what love looks like in action,” Bush said.
