HUNTERSVILLE – The planning board will hear plans for a proposed 110-bed behavioral health hospital Feb. 28 at town hall.
The hospital, slated to be built at the corner of Verhoeff Drive and Old Statesville Road, next to the Monteith Place neighborhood, has been a subject of a number of meetings and angry emails, as residents in that neighborhood do not want it built nearby. They fear for their safety and have a host of other issues.
The planning board deferred a decision on the proposal last month. If the planning board votes to pass the plans to the town board, commissioners are expected to vote on it March 5.
