Following a second-place finish in the programming portion of the N.C. FIRST LEGO League State Tournament on Jan. 21, members of Davidson Day School’s middle school’s FIRST LEGO League Robotics Team showed off their skills to classmates.
The team, which nicknamed themselves the Nine Notorious Bionic Bananas, finished second out of 60 teams at the tournament, where they programmed their robots to perform tasks, such as turning and spinning on the “game table.”
Team members include: Justin Riou, fourth grade; Zack Mandel and Jack Ransom, fifth grade; Christina Catlett, Kyle Fabrizio and Jordan Graham, sixth-grade; Gable Brown and Avery Sommer, seventh grade; and coaches Fred Hass, Ray Catlett, Mike Ransom and James Sommer. Apiary Security Advanced Security Technologies, Commercial Credit Group, Inc. and Roush Yates Engines sponsored the team. (Tori Hamby/Herald photos)
