HUNTERSVILLE Ten members of the North Mecklenburg High School Debate and Speech Team attended the 51st Annual Barkley Forum Debate and Speech Tournament at Emory University and four members advanced to the final or quarterfinal rounds at the Jan. 27-29 event.

• Senior Catherine Bizub broke through the preliminary and semi-final rounds and came in eighth-place after the final round.

• Junior James Williams broke through to the quarterfinal round in the humorous interpretation and prose/poetry divisions

• The team of seniors Brooke Carter and Lauren Calucag broke to the quarterfinal round in the duo interpretation division.
