HUNTERSVILLE – A team of eighth-grade students placed first at the N.C. Regional Future City Competition, a project-based competition where participants create their own cities of the future.
The middle school fielded three teams, one for each sixth, seventh and eighth grades, at the Jan. 21 competition held at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. The eighth-grade team will go on to represent North Carolina at the national Future City Competition in Washington D.C., Feb. 17-21.
The eighth-grade teams also won two special awards for best essay and best model, while the sixth-grade team took home an award for creating the most sustainable buildings.
