Robert R. McGinnis Sr.

NEWTON – Robert Richard McGinnis Sr., 62, of Newton, formerly of Huntersville, died Feb. 8, 2012, at the Palliative Care Center & Hospice House of Catawba Valley.

Born July 13, 1949, in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth Sasbury McGinnis.

Survivors include his sister, Becky Torrence; children, Robert Richard McGinnis Jr., Debra Mason and Angela Milburn; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 13, at the Good Samaritan Funeral Home in Denver with Pastor Curtis Hagler officiating.



Robert Hebron Mills

MOORESVILLE – Robert Hebron Mills, 91, of Mooresville, died on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

He was born March 23, 1920, in Iredell County, to the late William Pinkney and the late Emma Blanche Sloop Mills. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy and was a retired Davidson police chief. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Cornelius for 60 years, Williams Masonic Lodge #136 AF & AM, and Scottish Rite-Valley of Charlotte for 50 years. He was also a member of Oasis Shrine, Order of Eastern Star Long Creek Chapter #151, and Mt. Mourne Lions Club, where he received the Jack Stickley Award. He was a member of the Mt. Mourne Volunteer Fire Department and of Davidson United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Dora Marlowe, Marie Isenhour and Mary Wilson; and brothers, Ray Mills, Johnnie Mills and Kenneth Mills.

Mr. Mills is survived by his wife of 69 years, Charlotte Stilwell Mills; and sister, Laurene McAllister of Mooresville.

A funeral service was held Feb. 12 at Davidson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jody Seymour and the Rev. Dr. Russell Montfort officiating. Burial followed at Mimosa Cemetery in Davidson with Masonic Graveside Rites.

Phillip B. Gray

HUNTERSVILLE – Philip B. Gray, 86, of Huntersville, died Feb. 8, 2012.

Born Oct. 24, 1925, in Camden, N.J. he was the son of the late Philip J. Gray and Elizabeth Fitzgerald Gray.

Mr. Gray was a U.S. Navy veteran from World War II and the Korean War, serving on the USS Livermore. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors Club and employed at the Rustic Tavern and Compton’s Restaurant as a bartender.

He is survived by his daughter, Dolores Nasife and husband Samuel; grandsons, Samuel Nasife, Jr. and wife Josie, Todd Nasife, Brett Nasife and wife Erin; great granddaughters, Caitlin and River; sister, Doris Kerr and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Gray.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.

Trina Duree Jones Hunter

HUNTERSVILLE – Trina Duree Jones Hunter, 50, of Huntersville, died Thursday Feb. 9, 2012, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House.

Born October 4, 1961, in Charlotte, she was the daughter of Mary House Jones of Charlotte and the late Murle B. Jones. She was a state licensed and nationally certified interpreter for the deaf, a member of R.I.D. and worked for Central Piedmont Community College.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Serenity and Evan; mother, Mary Jones; sisters, Denise Harton and husband David of Harrisburg, Teresa Lougee and husband Brent of Richmond, Va., Cindy Hammer and husband Howard of Belmont, Torrie Thompson and husband James of Cornelius; a host of extended family, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held Feb. 11.

Timothy Baxter

HUNTERSVILLE – Timothy Baxter, 69, of Huntersville died Feb. 9, 2012, at his home. He was born May 24, 1942, in Bronx, NY to Dorothea Mulvihill Baxter and the late Walter Baxter. He was a Respiratory Therapist with CMC Lincoln, a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville and a director of Bit O’Luck Equine Rescue.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Gail Ann Miller Baxter; five daughters Debra Brescia of Cornelius, Donna Yacopino of Waxhaw, Dianna Elkenbaum of Seattle, Wash., Rebecca and Claudia Baxter of Huntersville; sisters Bridget Powell, Nora Ehrling and Eileen Toro; grandchildren, Amanda, Erica, Casey, Jessica, Jacqueline, Julianna, Danae, Sequoia and Willow.

A funeral service will be held, Saturday, Feb. 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the family’s home.

Rosemary J. “Roe” Albrecht

HUNTERSVILLE – Rosemary J. “Roe” Albrecht of Huntersville died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital due to heart and stroke complications.

She was born in New Brunswick, NJ on Jan. 10, 1936, and was preceded in death by her parents, John T. Gurgul and Helen S. Gurgul.

Roe was a graduate of Sayreville High School, Sayreville, NJ, and worked as a secretary for Johnson and Johnson. She volunteered at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville and performed in many musical shows at local churches.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Charles “Bud” Albrecht of Huntersville, her brother Dennis Gurgul and his wife Carmella of Boston; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and Uncle Charlie.

A funeral service was held Feb. 13 with burial following in Califon, NJ.

Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
