HUNTERSVILLE – This was the second year of the Huntersville Half Marathon and Holiday 5K that took place on Dec. 8 around the Birkdale Village area.

The event had more than 1,000 entrants and benefited Garrett’s Wings, Presbyterian Healthcare and The Friends of Earth Fare Foundation.

The 5K course started at Birkdale Village and continued across Sam Furr Road to Birkdale Commons Parkway.

The course was designed to showcase the roads the local runners fill every day.

The event was put on by Bear Robinson of Hardcore Serious Fitness.
