Michelle Christine Smith Bridges

HUNTERSVILLE – Michelle Christine Smith Bridges, 39, died suddenly after giving birth to her second child, Sydney Michelle, Nov. 2. at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

She graduated from Tyrone High School in 1991 and Penn State University in1995. She was employed with Gap Inc. for more than 20 years, most recently at Banana Republic at Southpark and Birkdale.

She is survived by husband, W. Jeff Bridges; son, Jackson; daughter, Sydney; parents, Michael and Colleen Smith; sister, Shannon Hess; grandparents, Jack and Mae Myers; brothers-in-law, Dustin Hess and Jason Owensby; sister-in-law, Jenni Owensby; and nieces and nephews, Ethan and Olivia Hess and Ali Owensby.

Funeral services for Bridges were held Nov. 6 at Davidson United Methodist Church. James Funeral Home served the family.



John Nelson McGhee

CORNELIUS – John Nelson McGhee, 61, died Nov. 1 at Presbyterian Hospital.

He was born on March 2, 1951, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to the late John and Margaret McGhee.

Survivors include wife, Denise Evans McGhee; sons, Todd and wife, Cydney, of Midland and Travis and wife, Courtney, of Concord; daughter, Rhiannon Shropshire and husband, David, of Concord; and grandchildren, Colby, Loryn, Brooke and Claire.

A private service will be held at James Funeral Home, which served the family.

Charles “Doodle” Hamilton Carrigan

HUNTERSVILLE – Charles “Doodle” Hamilton Carrigan, 70, died Oct. 31 at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville.

He was born May 25, 1942, in Iredell County to the late Carl and Virginia Belk Carrigan Cordell.

Survivors include wife of 51 years, Shelby Strider Carrigan; sons, Craig and wife, Sandy, of Harrisburg, and Brian and wife, Cindy, of Clarksville, Tenn.; daughter, Tena Davis Sheets and husband, Ron, of Huntersville; step-father, Robert Cordell and wife, Wanda, of Indian Trail; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services for Carrigan were held Nov. 3 at First Baptist Church in Huntersville.

Frances Ann Hodges

DAVIDSON – Frances Ann Hodges, 65, died Oct. 29.

She was born Sept. 12, 1947, in Mississippi to the late Luther and Eddie Hodges. She was a teacher, most recently at Alexander and Quail Hollow middle schools.

Survivors include son, Andrew Simkus of Asheville; daughter, Danya Simkus of Kingston, Wash.; sister, Judy Gill Hodges of Kentwood, La.; and grandson, Stewart Youngmann.

A reception for Hodges was held Nov. 1 at the home of a family friend.

Milosava Saric Kuzmanovic

DAVIDSON – Milosava Saric Kuzmanovic, 82, died Oct. 27.

Born March 15, 1930 in Ducina, Yugoslavia, she left communist Yugoslavia in 1968 in search of economic and political freedom, landing first in Joigny, France and later in Milwaukee.

She worked at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1993.

Kuzmanovic is survived by children, Rada and husband, Sasa, Biljana and husband, Miodrag, all of Belgrade, Serbia and Zoran and wife, Mary Beth, of Davidson; grandchildren, Ilija, Milica, Daniel, Natalie and Rebecca; and great-grandchildren, Natalia and Luka.

A private burial will be held in Belgrade.

Christine Yandle Wallace

HUNTERSVILLE – Christine Yandle Wallace, 90, died Oct. 27.

Wallace was born in Indian Trail on Feb. 13, 1922, to R.S. Yandle and Susan Ballentine Yandle. She was preceded in death by husband, David L. Wallace; three brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include daughters, Joanne Hammond and husband, Cliff, of Cornelius and Marilyn Allen and husband, John, of Cumming, Ga.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Wallace were held Oct. 28 at Sharon Memorial Park.
