CORNELIUS – Cornelius and Huntersville residents can get extra holiday shopping time by dropping off their special needs child for three hours to receive childcare from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Dec. 1.

Special needs children and their siblings can stay in a fun, safe environment with one-on-one volunteer care.

For Cornelius and Huntersville residents there is a $5 fee per child and a $10 fee per child for others.

The drop off will be at Bailey Road Recreation Center. Call 704-892-6031, ext. 162 for more information.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

The Cornelius PARC Department and Huntersville Parks & Recreation Department will also host a Special Needs Holiday Celebration and Volunteer Appreciation event that will run from 1-3 p.m. Dec. 8, at the Cornelius Art Center, 19725 Oak St., Unit 1.

This event is free to Cornelius and Huntersville residents, and costs $5 per family for others.

This event will offer refreshments and craft activities.
