DAVIDSON – Area nonprofits are providing Thanksgiving meals to needy members of the community.

Ada Jenkins is teaming up with the Earth Fare in Huntersville to supply turkeys to families.

Last year, Earth Fare donated close to 150 turkeys to Ada Jenkins and are hoping to surpass that number this year.

The Strong & Focused Triathlon Club is hosting a 5K run to benefit the Angels & Sparrows Soup Kitchen. The event is called the Strong, Focused and Soon to be Stuffed 5K, where participants bring gift cars, canned foods, or any kind of food out of the pantry as an entry fee.

The 5K begins at 8:30 Nov. 22 at Strong & Focused Triathlon Club Headquarters at 8900 Scottsboro Drive, Huntersville.

Loaves & Fishes is providing turkeys for families of three or more and chickens for families less than three. They are expecting to feed more than 5,000 people throughout Mecklenburg County during the Thanksgiving holiday.
