The executive director of the Lake Norman Regional Economic Development Corporation announced last week that he was retiring, effective during the first quarter of 2013. Broadway joined the EDC in 2006.
He is one of three organization directors, including Sally Ashworth of Visit Lake Norman and Bill Russell of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce, responsible for job creation, tourism and travel and bringing business to the North Mecklenburg region of Lake Norman.
Broadway is credited with helping set up Pactiv (Prairie Packing), Rubbermaid’s expansion and helping bring ABB and MSC Industrial to the area. “There is no question – Jerry Broadway has changed the face of our community and the way we do business at the lake. He’s made more than a difference – he’s touched lives,” said Russell.
