Donald Robinson Webber
DAVIDSON – Donald Robinson Webber, 95, died Nov. 8, 2012, at his home.
Born May 25, 1917, in Fort Salonga, N.Y., he was a son of the late William Webber and Alice Louise Robinson Webber.
Webber was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and retired from the aircraft maintenance department of Mobil Oil Corporation. He was a member of Carolina Historic Aviation Commission, Westchester Aircraft Maintenance Association and U.S. Air Force Association.
Funeral services were held Nov. 10 at Back Creek Presbyterian Church. Interment will be conducted at a later date in the Marshville City Cemetery.
He is survived by wife, Mattie White Webber; son, Carl W. Webber and wife, Gayle, of Marshville; grandson, Christopher Adam Webber; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Allyne Pope Webber; and sisters, Dorothy McDonald and Edna Gehres.

William W. (Bill) Thurman Jr.
HUNTERSVILLE – William W. (Bill) Thurman Jr., 69, died Nov. 7, 2012, at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House.
He was born May 27, 1943, in San Francisco, Calif., to Jane Snow Thurman and the late William Thurman Sr. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as a special agent from the FBI.
In addition to his mother, survivors include wife, Merrie Thurman; sons, Patrick and wife, Mona, and Scott and wife, Lisette, all of Coral Springs, Fla.; grandchildren, Liam and Harrison Thurman; sister, Jan Lerman and husband, Mitch, of San Leandro, Calif.; Robert Thurman and wife, Mary, of Sherman, Texas; nephews, Robert and Keith Michel of Clearwater, Fla.; niece, Cory Thurman and Larissa Berger and husband, Andrew, of Mt. Holly; mother-in-law, June Spell of Huntersville; sister-in-law, Lauren Kunz of Huntersville and Debbie Spell of Okeechobee, Fla.; and brother-in-law, Keith Spell of Mountain Home, Idaho.
Funeral services for Thurman were held Nov. 10 at James Funeral Home.

Thomas M. Surratt
HUNTERSVILLE – Thomas M. Surratt, 83, died Nov. 4, 2012 ,at Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born Aug. 17, 1929, in Salisbury to the late Thomas Mitchell Surratt and Florence Fesperman Winecoff Surratt.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Fleta W. Cloyd, Hazel W. Eller Bowles and Rachel W. Bolt.
Surratt graduated from Boyden High School in Salisbury in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army’s 179th Army Band at Camp Carson, Colo.
Following his military service, Surratt began a career in healthcare in Siler City. He served on the administrative team at Presbyterian Healthcare from 1982 to 1993. In 1994, Surratt and his son, Doug Surratt, began a physician management company, Baybridge Management, where he served as CEO until retirement.
Survivors include sons, Tim Surratt of Henderson, Flynn Surratt of Edenton and Doug Surratt and wife, Edie, of Davidson; daughters, Janice Surratt Sandberg and husband, Gary, of Tacoma, Wash., Kay Surratt Stokes and husband, Charley, of Puyallup, Wash., and Susan Surratt Smith and husband, Carey, of Matthews; grandchildren, Jennifer Surratt, Christina Logue, Michael Logue, Zachary Stokes, Marybeth Surratt, Caroline Surratt, Logan Smith, Lilly Smith, Nathan Surratt and Daniel Surratt; and sister, Martha W. Howard Eaton of Del Rio, Texas.
A memorial service was held for Surratt on Nov. 9 at Davidson United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Davidson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 718, Davidson, NC 28036, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.

Janice G. Palmer
HUNTERSVILLE – Janice G. Palmer, 66, died Nov. 4, 2012.
She was born Nov. 29, 1945, in Omaha, Neb.
Throughout her life, Palmer was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad in Chicago, AT&T Bell Labs and IBM. Most recently, she worked for Allied-Barton as a security officer at Old City Hall in Charlotte.
She is survived by husband, William Palmer; brother, David MacDonald and wife, Jan; daughter, Susan Lynch and husband, Ryan; son, Will Palmer and wife, Rebecca; and grandsons, Owen and Declan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. A private memorial service is scheduled for a later date.
