CHARLOTTE – Hough High School principal Terri Cockerham has been named as a finalist for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ principal of the year.
Cockerham and five other finalists from each CMS zone have been nominated for the honor, CMS announced Oct. 16.
She has served in her position at Hough High since the school opened in 2009. Cockerham began her career at CMS in 1983 as an interim teacher at East Mecklenburg and Olympic high schools before becoming a full-time teacher at Olympic. She served as an assistant principal at two CMS schools before becoming principal of Eastway Middle in 1997 and Providence High in 2005.
She has been named a principal of the year finalist in 2004 and 2007.
