On Sept. 14, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a victim who had placed a check in her mailbox and later discovered it had been stolen.

The stolen check was used to create two counterfeit checks using the victim’s bank account information. The women found that an attempt was made to pass one of the checks at the Fifth Third Bank in Cornelius and the other was passed at a Fifth Third Bank in Davidson.

After investigating, officers found that Glen Perry Witcher, 44, made the attempted pass of one of the counterfeit checks in Cornelius. Witcher was arrested by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on Sept. 21 and was charged with Larceny of Chose in Action, and was then turned over to the Iredell County authorities. He has been placed in the Iredell County Jail with a $5,000 secured bond while he awaits court.
