Frank Brierly

HUNTERSVILLE – Frank F. Brierly, age 73, of Huntersville formerly of Holden, Mass., died Dec. 24, 2011.

Brierly was born March 15, 1938 in Berea, Ohio. He graduated from Germantown Friends School in Germantown, Penn., in 1956 and The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1963.

He worked as an independent manufacturer’s representative in the hardware industry for 48 years and served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Jane; son, Frank Brierly; daughter, Sara Felzer and husband Paul; and three grandchildren.

A private memorial will be held.

Edward J. Camino

HUNTERSVILLE – Edward Joseph Camino, 86, of Huntersville died at his home on Dec. 25, 2011.

Born Dec. 1, 1925, he was a son of the late Joseph Camino and the late Giavonna Mancini Camino. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from the U.S. Post Office in Toms River, N.J.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Jean Camino; daughters, Christine and Kelly Camino, of Huntersville; granddaughter Taylor Camino; sister-in-law Leila Eistedt; nephews, Larry and Gary Polizzotto; and nieces, Dana Supino and Gina Polizzotto.

A funeral service was held Dec. 28 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home Chapel.

Virginia F. Leger

HUNTERSVILLE – Virginia Frances Leger, 91, died Dec. 27, 2011.

A native of Chelsea, Mass., she graduated from the Lesley Teaching College in 1941 and taught elementary school children until her retirement in 1978.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Evelyn Brown Parr and husband, Edward E. Leger.

Survivors include her son, Ted Leger, of Cloverdale, S.C.; daughters, Susan Cairns, of Woodland, Calif., and Denise Andico, of Greenacres, Fla.; granddaughters; Kimberly Sanabria of Succasunna, N.J., Danielle Gamble of Gainsville, Fla.,  Crissi Kessler of Woodland Calif.; and five great-grandchildren; McKenna, Peyton, Avery, Sebastian and newborn Briana.

A funeral service was held Dec. 31 at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home Chapel.

Howard D. Ray

HUNTERSVILLE – Howard Donald Ray, 67, of Huntersville died Dec. 27, 2011.

Born June 19, 1944 to the late Ben Elmore and the late Mary Sue Ray Gryder in Kingsport, Tenn., Howard was a member of Lake Haven Baptist Church.

He was a delivery manager for Lowe’s.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Ray; son, Donald Ray and wife, Sandy, of Huntersville; daughter, Tammy Taylor and husband, Ricky, of Charlotte; four grandchildren: Hilary and Nichole Ray and Daryl and Joshua Taylor; and one great grandchild, Makenzie Ray.

A funeral was held Dec. 29 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Cook officiating. A burial was held at Mt. Zion Community Cemetary.

David Turner

HUNTERSVILLE – David W. Turner, 54, of Huntersville died Dec. 30, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center Northeast.

A Charlotte native, Turner retired from UPS freight after 35 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edwin Turner and Dorothy Ellen Wilson. Survivors include his fiancée, Heather Sewell, and daughter, Jennifer Sullivan and her husband Charles Sullivan.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior at 2 p.m.

Richard Barkley

DAVIDSON – Richard H. Barkley, 63, of Davidson died Jan. 2, 2012.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
