BALTIMORE – Lime Energy Co., based in Huntersville, announced Jan. 19 that the Zemel Road Landfill Gas to Energy Facility has been named Project of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Landfill Methane Outreach Program.
The voluntary assistance program helps to reduce methane emissions from landfills by encouraging the recovery and use of landfill gas as an energy resource. The award is based on innovation and creativity, environmental and economic benefits and overall success in promoting landfill gas to energy projects locally and nationally.
