Huntersville’s principal town planer, David F. Peete, was named the 2011 Volunteer of the Year by the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce for his work with the junior leadership program.

Peete is a graduate of the Chamber’s 2010-2011 Leadership Lake Norman program. Peete’s leadership class created the application and curriculum and selected 17 students from four area high schools. Peete oversees the junior leadership class and coordinates schedules and activities for the program.

“David has a passion when it comes to mentoring the young people,” said Tricia Sisson, chair for this year’s adult leadership program. “We have a great class, with each of them playing a significant role. We all knew David would do an outstanding job chairing the program, and he has been nothing less than exceptional.”
