FIRST LEGO League team DCC–which stands for Dream, Create, Complete– took home a LEGO trophy for Strategy and Innovation in the Robot Design Category at the North Carolina FIRST LEGO League Championship tournament at North Carolina A&T University Saturday, Jan. 21. The Cornelius-based home school team competed against 60 other teams from across the state in the 9- to 11-year-old age division of the LEGO robotics competition, and also took home a Judge Award from the regional competition held at Cannon School in November. The all-rookie team is sponsored by Central Piedmont Community College and Youth Engineering and Technology Inspiration, Inc. and led by first-time coach Beth de Jesus-Buckley.
