DENVER – Lincoln Charter School and Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy of Forest City are teaming up for the third annual Talon Challenge, an effort to raise money for the cancer research support organization The V Foundation.
Both schools have organized several events leading up to the Feb. 3 basketball games between the school’s middle and high school basketball teams. Tuesday, Jan. 31, Lincoln Charter’s Denver campus will hold a Red Cross blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and both schools will compete to collect the most pints of blood.
On Wednesday, Feb. 1, the schools will collaborate on a “game ball run” beginning at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and ending at Lincoln Charter’s Denver middle and high school campus on Feb. 3, where the challenge’s basketball games will be held. All Lincoln Charter School and Thomas Jefferson Classical campuses will be stops along the almost 70-mile run. Both schools are accepting donations for the game run, all of which will go toward the V Foundation. Talon Cards also are available at each school office, for a suggested donation of $1, to recognize people whose lives have been touched by cancer. Both schools will also sell t-shirts, with all proceeds benefiting the V Foundation.
A system of points will determine the winner of the Talon Challenge trophy. To order a T-shirt or make a pledge, email Jonathan Bryant at jonathan.bryant@
