Civil War reenactors from the Irish Brigade held a winter encampment and drill Saturday, Jan. 7 at Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville. About a dozen reenacting veterans and new recruits demonstrated musket drills and marching. The troops cooked over an open fire, and camped on the plantation grounds in canvas tents. Some of the soldiers worked on a log cabin of the type soldiers during the Civil War lived in when winter came and campaigning ground to a halt.
