DAVIDSON – Dennis Appleyard, a former Davidson College economics and international studies professor, will speak at this month’s Davidson Scholars’ meeting about understanding recent financial news.

In a speech called “Inequality, Deficits and Unemployment,” Appleyard will break down the headlines and tackle topics like income inequality and how policymakers deal with deficits. Appleyard has won several prestigious teaching awards.

The free discussion is Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the Davidson Parks and Recreation office, 416 Armour St from 1 until
2:30 p.m.
