On Oct. 1, area basketball coaches will convene for the second annual Providence Day Basketball Coaches Clinic. The clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the school’s Mosack Athletic Center.
Guest speakers include Virginia Military Institute men’s coach Duggar Baucom, University of North Carolina women’s coach Sylvia Hatchell, Wake Forest women’s coach Mike Petersen, Charlotte Bobcats assistant coach Stephen Silas, College of Charleston associate head men’s coach Mark Byington and Charlotte 49ers men’s coach Alan Major.
Participants will attend several workshops, including “Implementing the Up-tempo Offense,” “Attacking the Zone Defense” and “How to Teach Rebounding.”
Last year, more than120 college, high school, middle school and AAU coaches attended the clinic.
Pre-registration closes Sept. 27. The cost is $50 for the first coach and $40 for each additional coach from the same staff. The registration fee on the day of the clinic is $60 for the first coach and $50 for each additional coach from the same staff.
