Hough beat Providence, 20-3, in a makeup game on Sept. 6, a little more than a year since the Huskies’ last victory. The Huskies (1-2) had lost 10 straight since beating Waddell on Sept. 3, 2010, the second game in school history.
Hough’s defense was dominant. It limited Providence to 10 yards rushing, and Isaac Aiken returned a fumble 50 yards for a touchdown. Nate Mays returned an interception 59 yards to Providence’s 2-yard line, which set up a touchdown. Hough’s Evan O’Connor, who had a touchdown pass, filled in for Josh Stilley at quarterback. Stilley injured his hand early in the game on Sept. 2, but the contest was moved to Sept. 6 because of rain.
