CHARLOTTE – Big Sweep, a one-day clean-up effort of creeks, streams and lakes in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area, is celebrating its 25th anniversary on Oct. 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Volunteers from religious and civic groups, school clubs and trade organizations will be at the sites cleaning up litter that can have a devastating effect on wildlife and drinking water.
Staffed locations are as follows: Ray’s Splash Planet at 215 N. Sycamore St.; Campbell Creek Greenway at 2100 Margaret Wallace Road; Four Mile Creek Greenway at 11823 Johnston Road; Latta Plantation Nature Preserve at 5226 Sample Road, Huntersville; Gateway Nature Preserve at 9909 Wilkinson Blvd.; McMullen Creek Greenway at 8100 Pineville-Matthews Road; Mallard Creek Elementary School at 9801 Mallard Creek Road; and Southside Park at 2645 Toomey Ave.
