HUNTERSVILLE – Journey Church, 15711 Brookway Drive,  has selected Matt Dawson as its new lead pastor.
Eight months ago, Will Oswald, Journey’s lead pastor, stepped down as he and his family prepared to moved to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Oswald is teaching at a seminary there.
Dawson has served as Journey’s creative arts pastor, leading the church’s band and technical teams and assisting on the teaching team for five years. Prior to joining Journey, he served as creative arts pastor in Jacksonville, Fla.; worship and small group pastor in Hickory; and youth pastor and worship leader roles elsewhere in North Carolina.
Dawson has shared plans for an enhanced Sunday children’s worship, local mission projects that mobilize the broader community, an 11-week Financial Peace University class and quarterly family-experience services.
