HUNTERSVILLE – Visit Lake Norman and Metrolina Control Line Society will host the U.S. team trials for the 2012 Federal Aviation International World Championships for control line model aircraft Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3 and 4.

The competition takes place at David B. Waymer Flying Field on Holbrook Road, starting at 9 a.m. each day. The event will draw teams and officials from all over the country.

The racers will be vying to make the national team as they fly model airplanes on 60-foot steel wires at speeds up to 200 miles per hour.
