HUNTERSVILLE – The Charlotte Business Journal recognized Huntersville Finance Director Janet Stoner as CFO of the Year in the Government Category at its annual CFO of the Year Awards luncheon on Aug. 18.
In the past year, Huntersville has seen Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s upgrade the town’s bond rating – to Aaa and AAA respectively, each agency’s highest rating.
The Business Journal said the town’s conservative financial policies have allowed it to draw on its reserves for debt service and capital projects versus drastic cuts and/or raising taxes. The awards recognize financial professionals in the 16-county Charlotte region for outstanding performance at their organizations. The Journal works with the Charlotte chapter of Financial Executives International in the nomination and judging process. The two other finalists in the government category were Leigh Anne Mulligan of the town of Oakboro and Melissa Wike of Iredell-Statesville Schools.
