A car slammed into the bridge along Bud Henderson road Tuesday night, Aug. 1t, earing the guardrail off of the bridge and causing the road to close for several hours.
After hitting the bridge, the car rolled into the creek, a Huntersville Police Commander’s watch log said. The driver escaped with only minor injuries. No more information about the wreck was made available, as Huntersville Police could not be reached before the Herald Weekly’s press deadline. State road crews were working on the bridge Wednesday morning.
The bridge was scheduled to be rebuilt later this year.
