HUNTERSVILLE – Brothers Jack Thomas Smith and Michael Smith plan to shoot and produce their third feature film, “Infliction,”’ in the Lake Norman area.
Jack Smith, the writer, producer and director of the film, will attend open auditions on Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Aug. 28 from noon to 4 at Lake Norman Performing Arts, 9709-D Sam Furr Road, in the Northcross Shopping Center.
Michael Smith’s wife, Erika, is the owner and director of Lake Norman Performing Arts, which is serving as the production facility for “Infliction.”
“The movie needs over 200 extras and supporting roles ages 3 and up,” Michael Smith said in a news release. “So there is plenty of opportunity for people in the community to be in this film. Also, Lake Norman Performing Arts is having an open house the same weekend as the auditions, so it’s a great chance for everyone to see what a wonderful studio my wife has built for this area.”
The Smith brothers’ last feature film, “Disorder,” was released nationwide on DVD by Universal and New Light Entertainment and screened at the Cannes and Raindance film festivals.
The 2006 psychological thriller chronicled a man with schizophrenia who is convicted of a double murder. When he is released from prison, a deadly masked figure from his past returns.
