CORNELIUS – The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce has hired Brett Zabek as its executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Zabek will have responsibility for “business development, the creation of a capital resource management program and strategic financial planning for the organization,” according to a chamber news release.

Zabek earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and exercise science from Concordia University and has worked 17 years in Chicago, Los Angeles and Charlotte for various industries, including consumer packaging, technology, defense-aerospace and advertising. In 2009, he earned his masters of business administration in management from Wake Forest University.

Zabek lives in Cornelius with his wife, twin 6-year-old girls and 2-year-old son.
