CHARLOTTE – Charlotte Catholic High School hired Joshua Potter as the new director of its band program, which includes marching, symphonic, concert and jazz bands.
Potter has taught at Millbrook High School, in Raleigh, and West Rowan High School, in Mount Ulla. For the past 11 years, he has served a band director and arts department chairman at Wakefield High School in Raleigh.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1998 and a master’s degree in conducting from East Carolina University in 2008. He has also pursued additional studies in wind-band conducting with university conductors at Georgia State University, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, the University of Texas and the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.
He has given lectures at N.C Music Educators conferences and conducted seminars on marching band judge responsibilities.
