HUNTERSVILLE – Mecklenburg County emergency services officials will test sirens located around McGuire Nuclear Station Wednesday, July 13, about 11:50 a.m.
Members of the public don’t need to respond during the three-minute test. State and county officials and Duke Energy conduct the test once a quarter to ensure the sirens are operating properly.
Hearing a siren is a signal for residents to tune to a radio or TV station in their area that would carry an emergency-alert message. County officials would use these stations to provide information to the public.
