Signups have started for the Walk For Wishes, which raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & Western North Carolina.

The event, held Sept. 10, at Carowinds, raises money for the organization that grants the wishes of local children suffering from life-threatening medical conditions. Last year, more than 500 people helped raise more than $70,000.

There is no registration fee to take part, but walkers are asked to try and raise money through individual sponsors.
